NGO to support : Oxfam

Oxfam.

The Oxford, England based Non governmental organization (NGO) has saved countless lives from the jaws of poverty since it was established in 1942. Oxfam has done it all without any form of government funding, but instead with community involvement and charitable donations. Their main goal, poverty has taken the lives of 22 thousand children daily due tomalnutrition and lack of water. This has become a huge global issue and asyou can see, many have begun to change their opinions on poverty and have turned to change. Thankfully, there are many ways to do this, including going to the official Oxfam website and going to the “Get Involved” section to get more details. The international organization was founded in 1942 as a supporting help to a national famine relief committee, but slowly formed into an organization of their own. To have no government funds invested in it, Oxfam has really become one of the strongest in the race to cure poverty, through volunteers like youcoulf be, this becomes possible. The people who put themselves out there, and give help to those in need are the key to success in the battle of emancipating the globe.

Oxfam.

Helping to shape the future of human living, and providing equal rights to all humans. The founders of Oxfam, having seen the horror of the great famine had made personal connections with the cause and were set on creating an organization that helps everybody in need. They had in mind the idea of a government, but without corruption, such as racism or elitism. The thought of such corruption sparked in their minds that they, themselves could help others and create equal society for all.We could save every single person in poverty with only 40 billion dollars, going towards drinkable water, sanitation, nutrition, and education from a charitable government.

Why is this such an important global issue?

Did you know that a full 80 percent of the population of underdeveloped countries is in poverty?

Less of a life, due only to where you live is fair, right?

Despite common belief, people caught in poverty are just that, caught. In an endless loop of which they cannot escape from, at least not without assistance. How this loop happens all starts with the education expenditures rate of only 2.9% of the GDP. This means that under 3% of the money that people get in a country like Sierra Leone is spent on education, which leads to less paid jobs due to literal impairment. Less paid jobs conclude with less money going back into the economy to fund education, thus completing the cycle. The stereotype that the higher grade of literacy means a greater standard of work is very hypocritical coming from employers that very likely themselves endured much the same life.

Not allowing work breaks an article of the human declaration of rights.

The deplorable act of not allowing somebody a job, simply because of their background and the fact that they might not have the same skin colour has for many years now been seen as a taboo topic. But alas, there are thousands of accounts of racism to this extent daily happening under the shroud that you perceive as your world. Oxfam tries not just to feed and support those with an absence of food and water, but also to show the world how their lives are radically different from ours, and the least we can do is donate or volunteer for their cause. The culture of a muddled society, such as Sierra Leone can easily rally into a much greater global power with the grit to succeed. With your help, Oxfam can progressively lessen the impact of colour and offer employment to people around the world who are eligible for jobs, but have not been hired due to such things as discrimination or not being able to believe somebody simply because of where they come from.

Have you ever had a sense of guilt?

Because you have everything you need, everything you collectively need to survive and still so much more? You can easily get back on track with your fundamental moral obligations by persuading yourself that you would enjoy to scour a little into a hidden quality of life that you did not since know existed. To be exhilarated by the thought of something new and ominous to you can help in the adjustment. You may see an abrupt change. What is meant by this is that you shouldn’t be shocked to be plunked down into a place with such pandemonium, but rather should advocate unity and emancipation. So, if you have ever felt even a nerve of sympathy to those who are less fortunate, please consider donating either your money, or time to Oxfam. You can join the organization and help the cause by, as previously mentioned, going to the “Get involved” section of the website and searching for how to you can help. By only slightly modifying your life, you can change the living quality for so many less fortunates. Find out more here. One thing that you might want to keep in mind, and possibly do further research, are the benefits of your volunteer work. Of course, there are also countless moral reasons for which you should link your foresight to a cause that you can be a part of. Oxfam has in all, become one of the leaders of the modern povertyprevention scheme, devised and built up by an array of groups with jointideals and concerns.

Please, donate just as little effort to Oxfam as it took to read this article.

“To a billion people around the world surviving on just a dollar a day, the question of what to eat tonight is more about life and death than about recipes. The struggle of poor people around the globe weighs heavily on me, especially now that I am a mother, which is why I work with Oxfam.”
